It was an actual game, not a blowout. Roll Tide!

First football game I’ve watched all season, college or NFL and I’m just done. It felt so inevitable watching bama come back just like the pats last year in the superb owl. Admittedly I dislike both teams but I wasn’t really upset with the outcome, just with the losers for pissing away the game. As much as I dislike the safety issues and the dumb rules and all the anthem protest hot takes, the inevitability is what’s really made it unwatchable. To punt on 4th and 4 with under 3 min left in the game when the momentum has clearly turned against you is literally giving up. And then on 2nd and 26 in OT I started to think “hey maybe they have a chance-oh game over.”

Talent always wins. Always. And when you have the record Alabama has, they will always get all the best talent the country has to offer. All dynasties will eventually come to an end, but Nick Saban has this all figured out right now, and it may take his retirement to end the streak.

Damn right it will take his retirement to end the streak*! Roll Tide!

Speaking of talent - how can we get 4 and 5 star recruits year after year but can’t get a good fucking kicker to save our lives?

*Maybe, but probably. Also Kirby Smart is going to build a helluva program at GA since he learned from the best.

My son is the goalie for his soccer team. I tell him, “If the team is doing its job, you’ll never have to make a save. But if you have to make a save, you damn well better make it.” Same goes for kickers. That was a shank of epic proportions.

But it’s the same sort of thing that happens to musicians or any person who has to perform in clutch situations. It’s very hard to keep those Self 1 voices out of your head, and it’s the great players who can get in the zone and stay there.

As soon as Georgia brought out their punting team on 4th and 3 , everyone at the party I was at said “we lost”

I thought Georgia was gonna roll bama in the second half like they have every game this season (except auburn). But bama was bama

Yeah, it’s a real shame that 99% of coaches are so risk averse that they spend 60 min trying not to lose instead of going for the win. I used to be obsessed with football a decade or so and now, between all the various issues surrounding it and the game itself, this was my first season not watching and I really don’t even miss it.

I played keeper as well, my father used to tell me something very similar. I get it, but our kicking game has been notoriously bad for, 5 seasons or so. There’s gotta be a good kicker out there who wants to go to Bama.
